Okeechobee, FL

The town of Okeechobee was our first resupply point and we were fortunate to get a ride into town by Betty our trail angel. We’re sll struggling with the heat and heavy pack, so decided to camp at the KOA for the night. It was a chance to shower, fo laundry and eat out at a restaurant. It was a much needed break. By the next morning Alan wasn’t feeling so well and not sure he wanted to continue on under theses conditions. So he and Sherry made the decision to rent a car and car camp with shorter hikes to meet up with me at the end of each day. I’ve shortened my hikes, too, and picked spots where the three of us will be able to rendezvous.  We’ll see how this new strategy works out tomorrow when I set off on my own for the day’s hike. .
