Reconnecting in Miami, FL
I’m here in Miami meeting up with Alan and Sherry, my Canadian friends who I met on the Camino in 2014. We’re headimg off for our Florida Trail adventure in the morning. There’s a great group of trail angels who give hikers rides, water and moral support. We were lucky enough to get a ride to our starting point on the west side of Lake Okeechobee. The Army Corps of Engineers has been working on the dikes there, so much of the trail is closed. We’re backpackimf most of the way, so are carrying camping gear, food and water. This will be a different experience than the Camino, but hopefully as rewarding. I can’t think of a better duo than Alan and Sherry to share it with.
